Parity violation experiments in non-leptonic processes at low energy offer a unique ground to test our understanding of hadronic weak neutral current interaction as well as to probe non-perturbative dynamics of the strong interaction. However, the ability to contrast experimental results to the Standard Model predictions depends critically on how well one could calculate the parity-odd nuclear coupling strengths in terms of the electroweak parameters. In this talk I will first review the current situation of the theoretical and experimental studies of these couplings. Then, based on a combination of lattice QCD and chiral effective field theory, I outline a procedure that enables, for the first time, a precise determination of the simplest parity-odd coupling strength, namely the pion-nucleon coupling constant, from first principle.
